Introducing Reactivity in Adaptive Hypertext Generation

چکیده

Interaction with an adaptive hypertext can be seen as a form of "goal-oriented" dialogue, where the user asks for information through a set of predefined queries and the system answers by ensuring that the global communicative goal of the information process is achieved through a sequence of dialogue sections (hypermedia nodes). This is a planning problem, in which the system tries to develop a coherent dialogue with the user, based on assumptions in the user model that are refined through link selection. Therefore, planning has to be reactive in order to relate link selection to activation of a process that allows generating and executing a “relevant” plan for that particular interaction context. In this paper I briefly describe an approach to dynamic hypermedia planning where these issues are taken into account. Submission to other conferences None Eligibility criteria I'm a third-year Ph.D student in AI in Medicine.

Generation of Adaptive ( Hyper ) Text Explanations with anAgent

A number of generation systems have chosen hypertext as a target media and study ways of adapting its content and links to the presentation context and the particular user. Our experience with hypertext generation has shown that a user model with beliefs, goals and interests could help to improve the explanation quality. Therefore, an existing agent modelling framework is being integrated withi...

MASH: A Framework for Adaptive Spatial Hypermedia

Spatial hypermedia provides opportunities for expression not possible in navigational hypertext. However, static spatial hypermedia, just like static traditional hypermedia, has a single presentation for all use contexts. We are exploring the use of multiple adaptation models to alter the presentation of spatial hypertext. Differences between navigational and spatial hypertext expression requir...

The Impact of Empirical Studies on the Design of an Adaptive Hypertext Generation System

This paper presents two empirical usability studies based on techniques from Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and software engineering, which were used to elicitate requirements for the design of a hypertext generation system. Here we will discuss the ndings of these studies, which were used to motivate the choice of adaptivity techniques. The results showed dependencies between di erent ways t...

In Search of Schrr Odinger's Node: Dynamic Text Generation for Adaptive Hypertext

Thanks to the World Wide Web there are more hy pertextual documents in existence than ever before By its very nature hypertext opens the door to user interaction with documents This in turn has resulted in attempts to capitalise on this interaction by build ing adaptive hypertext systems where the material presented to the user is in some way tailored on the basis of an existing user model or t...

Object Models for the World Wide Web

The World Wide Web was designed mainly for viewing documents, which nowadays necessitates inelegant software engineering for developing interactive applications. Improving the current Web’s simple distributed object system by introducing more sophisticated object-oriented concepts can facilitate Web application development. The general idea of web object models is depicted, current technologies...
